Jenny McCarthy has made surprising claims about Tom Cruise, alleging that the Hollywood star attempted to recruit her and former boyfriend Jim Carrey into Scientology. Speaking on The Jenny McCarthy Wahlberg Show, the 53-year-old television personality recalled attending Cruise’s 2006 wedding to Katie Holmes in Italy, where she experienced several uncomfortable moments.
McCarthy claimed Cruise repeatedly encouraged the former couple to visit his Aspen home, but Carrey suspected the invitations were connected to Scientology recruitment efforts. She also described an awkward encounter at the wedding rehearsal dinner after asking to hold Cruise and Holmes’ baby daughter, Suri, saying the room suddenly fell silent.
McCarthy recalled meeting Scientology leader David Miscavige, who served as Cruise’s best man. Although she described Cruise as personally friendly, she maintained that his efforts to introduce them to Scientology made her uneasy. Cruise’s representatives have not publicly responded to the allegations.
