Jack Grealish has been left out of Everton’s squad for their Premier League clash with Newcastle United, extending his absence following a disciplinary issue at the club.
The 31-year-old England international, currently on loan from Manchester City, remained on Merseyside to work on his fitness rather than travelling with David Moyes’s squad to St James’ Park.
Grealish was previously dropped for Everton’s 3-1 Carabao Cup victory over Newcastle after reportedly missing a training session without permission. The club confirmed that his omission was related to a breach of discipline, with Moyes publicly supporting the decision.
The winger had also missed Everton’s earlier Premier League defeat against Arsenal because of illness, meaning the Newcastle fixture is set to be his third consecutive absence.
Despite the controversy, Grealish has returned to training at Everton’s Finch Farm complex. However, his limited playing and training time in recent weeks has raised questions about when he will be ready to return to competitive action.
Moyes has declined to provide further details about the disciplinary matter, while the club has yet to confirm when Grealish will be considered for selection again.
The situation represents another setback for the former Aston Villa star as he attempts to rebuild his form and establish himself as a key figure in Everton’s Premier League campaign.
