The LaLiT London: A Historic School Reimagined Through Indian Hospitality
Near Tower Bridge, The LaLiT London gives a former Victorian school a new purpose. Set within a Grade II listed building designed by Edward Mountford, the architect behind the Old Bailey, this boutique hotel brings together London’s architectural heritage and an Indian approach to hospitality.
Its past remains part of its character. Seventy individually designed rooms and suites reference the building’s school days, while historic proportions give the interiors a distinctive sense of place.
The centrepiece is Baluchi at The Great Hall. Beneath soaring ceilings and striking blue chandeliers, the former assembly hall now provides a dramatic setting for Indian dining. The menu combines traditional flavours with contemporary techniques, while High Chai offers an Indian interpretation of afternoon tea, pairing masala chai with savoury bites and sweets.

Elsewhere, the Teacher’s Bar continues the school-inspired theme, and Rejuve spa adds another reason to extend a visit.
With Borough Market, The Shard and Tower Bridge nearby, The LaLiT offers a characterful base for exploring London. Its appeal also reaches beyond overnight guests: dinner in the Great Hall offers an opportunity to experience one of the capital’s distinctive architectural transformations.
